Mr. Barrett has been an adviser to or investor in over twenty early-stage privately held companies. He served as an appointed Commissioner of the statewide Louisiana Airport Authority from 2005-2008. In 2007, he was named to Governor Jindal’s Small Business and Entrepreneurship transition team. He currently is a member of Committee of 100 for Economic Development and sits on the Advisory Board of Hope for New York, an umbrella organization of thirty Christian charities associated with Redeemer Presbyterian Church that promotes volunteerism in New York where he is the head of the due diligence committee. He received his law degree from Louisiana State University School of Law, his LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Southern Methodist University.
Brett P. Giroir, M.D.

Dr. Giroir brings more than 30 years of experience in innovation and technology development to TransBio Ventures. He has served as the first physician Director of the Defense Sciences Office at DARPA, Professor and Endowed Chair in Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Chief Medical Officer at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, CEO of Texas A&M Health Science Center, Director of the Texas Task Force on Infectious Diseases, and Chair of the Congressional Choice Act Blue Ribbon Panel to reform of the VA Health System.
Dr. Giroir is a pediatric critical care physician by training, and currently serves on the scientific advisory boards for the Cancer Moonshots Program at MD Anderson and the Taubman Medical Research Institute at the University of Michigan. He is President and CEO of ViraCyte LLC, a Member of the Board of Directors of Esperance Pharmaceuticals and a Managing Director of the Kirchner Group, a traditional merchant bank. Dr. Giroir received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. His awards include the U.S. Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the Texas A&M System Award for Innovation, and finalist for the Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year.
